Welcome to the ArkLaTex Golden Retriever Club

The ArkLaTex Golden Retriever Club was founded in 2007 serving the areas East of  Dallas-Fort Worth  Texas, and the states of Louisiana and Arkansas.  The Club is in the process of completing the activities required by the American Kennel Club  and Golden Retriever Club Of America  for accreditation and to become sanctioned to hold AKC and GRCA Events.  We are led by a wonderful Board of Directors and having a great time working together towards our goal of being sanctioned.

We are very proud of the accomplishments of our membership and our Golden Retriever puppies and dogs who have recently won Major points at AKC shows and our Golden Retriever Breeding programs that have produced those Golden Retriever puppies and dogs.  Our members compete in Conformation, Obedience, Hunt tests, Agility, Rally, Tracking and Therapy.

The purpose of our club is to:

1. To do all that is possible to promote the natural abilities and qualities of the Golden Retriever as described in the standard approved by GRCA and AKC.

2. To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the Golden Retriever shall be judged.

3. To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging the adherence to both the Golden Retriever Club of America Code of Ethics and the American Kennel Club Sportsman’s Code of Ethics.

4. To achieve our goal to conduct sanctioned matches and to become licensed for Specialty Shows, Companion and Performance Events under the rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club.

5. To educate the Public about the Golden Retriever and responsible ownership of the Golden Retriever.

6. To provide continuing education opportunities related to Golden Retrievers and the sport of dog competitions for our membership.

Please contact us if you are interested in joining a Golden Retriever Club who's primary agenda is to promote good sportsmanship both inside and outside of competition events and you would enjoy  both social and dog related activities with others who love their Goldens:

Membership information is available by contacting the Club at membership@arklatexgrc.org.

The ArkLaTex GRC is proud to have received the following email on October 7, 2008 from Ann Horton, a Board member of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro Golden Retriever Rescue:

Date: Tue, 7 Oct 2008 19:12:45 -0400

I want to publicly thank a brand new golden retriever club, Ark La Tex GRC, for their great contributions to DFWMGRR (Dallas Ft. Worth Metro Golden Retriever Rescue). They are not yet a GRCA member, but are making great strides in the right direction. This past weekend was DFWMGRR's biggest fundraiser of the year, a golf tournament.

Ark La Tex GRC members made over $1000 in sponsorships, contributed items to the silent auction and helped sell raffle tickets.

They have stepped up to the plate on several occasions already including helping get dogs from remote shelters into DFWMGRR's program.

I look for great things from this new club as they move forward.

Thank you Ark La Tex GRC!

Sincerely,

Ann Horton

DFWMGRR Board Member
